A morning at the springs of Buñol

The waterfall of Cueva Turche dropping into its turquoise pool

One of the joys of Cura is how much lies within easy reach — while feeling a world away. A fifteen-minute drive brings you to the natural springs of Buñol, where cool water has been carving pools and caves out of the rock for millennia.

Cueva Turche

The best known of them is Cueva Turche: a wide natural amphitheatre where, after rains, a waterfall drops some sixty metres into a green pool. Even in the dry season it is a beautiful, shaded place for a swim, a picnic or simply sitting still with a view.

Cueva las Palomas

Quieter and wilder is Cueva las Palomas, a cave and gorge reached by a lovely walking trail. Bring good shoes and a sense of adventure — and, in summer, a towel.

For retreat groups

Many groups combine a morning walk from Cura through the hills with a visit to the springs: two to three hours of trail, a swim, and back at the retreat for lunch from the food forest. We are happy to help you plan the route, or arrange a local guide.
